Social Computing is Everywhere

Now matter where you look these days you are bound to see some reference of Facebook, Twitter or Linked In.  These tools have become mainstream methods for not only personal networking and collaboration, but also have become powerful methods for business to market and serve their customers.

Social computing, however, is not just a phenomenon outside the firewall, many organizations are leveraging the same desires to connect and collaborate but inside the firewall through blogs, wiki's and personal sites.

Key Social Computing Solution Types

Enterprise 2.0

Enterprise 2.0 is a term used to describe solutions that utilize similar methods that we use as individuals but applying them within an organization.  Examples of these types of solutions include blogs, wiki's, personal sites and the use of tags and comments.

Integrated External Social Networking

A lot happens online within the social computing sphere.  Integrating the dialogue that is happening online into key systems such as CRM or SharePoint can be a great way to improve visibility of what is being said about your brand online.
